Oxapro 10

Presentation: Each tablet contains Escitalopram Oxalate equivalent to Escitalopram 10 mg.

Indications: Oxapro is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. It may also be used for panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Dosage and Administration: For major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder, the usual starting dose for adults is 10 mg once daily. This may be increased by the physician to a maximum of 20 mg daily. For panic disorder and social anxiety disorder, the initial dose is 5 mg once daily for the first week, then increased to 10 mg once daily. The tablets should be taken orally once daily, with or without food, usually at the same time each day. Dosage adjustments should be made gradually as directed by the physician.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include nausea, headache, insomnia, fatigue, dry mouth, increased sweating, and sexual disturbances. Less common side effects can include dizziness, anxiety, agitation, tremor, and gastrointestinal disturbances.

Precautions: Inform your physician if you have any liver or kidney problems, heart conditions, a history of seizures, or bleeding disorders. Use caution with alcohol and other central nervous system depressants. May increase the risk of suicidal thoughts, especially in young adults. Inform your physician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not stop taking Oxapro abruptly, as withdrawal symptoms may occur.

Oxapro can interact with other medications, including monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) – it should not be used within 14 days of stopping an MAOI. Use caution with other serotonergic medications.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
