Paloxi

Presentation: Available as tablets (0.5 mg) and injections (0.075 mg/1.5 mL, 0.25 mg/5 mL).

Indications: Paloxi (Palonosetron) is indicated for the prevention of acute and delayed nausea and vomiting associated with moderately and highly emetogenic chemotherapy.¹It is also used for the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV).

Dosage and Administration:

• Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV):
  • Adults: 0.25 mg administered intravenously over 30 seconds, approximately 30 minutes before the start of chemotherapy. Alternatively, 0.5 mg orally approximately 1 hour before the start of chemotherapy.
  • Pediatric (1 month to 17 years): 20 mcg/kg intravenously as a single dose, administered over 10 seconds, approximately 30 minutes before the start of chemotherapy. Maximum dose is 1.5 mg.
• Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV):
  • Adults: 0.075 mg intravenously as a single dose administered over 10 seconds immediately before induction of anesthesia.

Side Effects: Common adverse reactions include headache and constipation. Less common side effects may include dizziness, fatigue, and diarrhea.

Precautions: Paloxi is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to palonosetron or any of its components. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of QT interval prolongation or cardiac arrhythmias.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
