Perkidopa 110

Presentation: Tablets containing Levodopa 100 mg and Carbidopa 10 mg.

Indications: Treatment of Parkinson's disease, including relief of symptoms such as tremor, rigidity, and bradykinesia. May be useful in patients experiencing motor fluctuations.

Dosage & Administration: Dosage is individualized. The usual starting dose is one tablet three or four times daily. Dosage may be increased by the physician based on clinical response, up to a maximum of eight tablets (2 tablets four times a day). May be taken with or without food, but avoid high-protein meals.

Side Effects: Common: nausea, involuntary movements (dyskinesia), dizziness, headache, abnormal dreams. Less common: confusion, hallucinations, orthostatic hypotension, vomiting, loss of appetite.

Precautions: Use caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, severe pulmonary disease, bronchial asthma, renal, hepatic, or endocrine disorders, or a history of peptic ulcer or convulsions. Not recommended in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma or malignant melanoma. May cause drowsiness; caution advised while driving or operating machinery.
