🧴 Perosa Plus Lotion (Permethrin & Crotamiton)
Perosa Plus is a combination treatment designed to eliminate scabies mites while providing rapid relief from the intense itching associated with skin infestations and irritations. It contains Permethrin, which paralyzes and kills the mites, and Crotamiton, which acts as both a scabicide and an antipruritic (anti-itch) agent.
📋 Indications
- Scabies: Treatment of mite infestations.
- Pruritus & Irritation: Relief from itching caused by sunburn, dry eczema, allergic rashes, hives, chickenpox, insect bites, and heat rash.
🥄 Application & Dosage
For the best results, the skin must be clean, cool, and dry before application.
- Adults and Children (Over 2 years):
- Apply the lotion to the entire body from the neck down.
- Ensure you cover all skin folds, between fingers and toes, under the nails, and the soles of the feet.
- Rub in lightly until the lotion disappears.
- Leave on for at least 8 hours before washing off.
- Repeat daily for 3–5 days as directed.
- Babies (Under 2 years):
- Follow the same steps but also apply to the face, neck, ears, and scalp (avoiding only the eyes and mouth).
- Use only once a day for this age group.
- Note: If you wash your hands or any treated area during the 8-hour period, you must reapply the lotion to that area.
⚠️ Important Precautions
- Highly Contagious: Scabies spreads easily. It is strongly recommended that all family members or close household contacts be treated at the same time to prevent re-infestation.
- Corticosteroids: 🛑 Stop using steroid creams (like Hydrocortisone) before using this lotion. Steroids can reduce your immune response and make the scabies infestation worse.
- Eyes: Avoid contact with eyes. If contact occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
⚠️ Side Effects
- Initial Sensation: You may feel a temporary burning, stinging, or tingling sensation shortly after application.
- Skin Reaction: Redness, swelling, or a temporary rash may occur. This is often part of the body's natural reaction to the scabies mites themselves rather than the medicine.
🤰 Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy: Not recommended, especially during the first trimester, as safety data is limited.
- Lactation: It is unknown if it passes into breast milk. Nursing mothers must not apply the lotion to the nipple area.
🧼 Post-Treatment Protocol
- After the final application, take a cleansing bath.
- Crucial Step: Change and wash all bed linen, towels, and underclothing in hot water to kill any remaining mites.
📦 Storage
- Store below 25°C in a dry place.
- Protect from light.
- Keep out of reach of children. 🚫👶
