Piglit 

Presentation: Each tablet contains Pioglitazone Hydrochloride INN equivalent to Pioglitazone base in varying strengths (e.g., 15 mg, 30 mg). Refer to the product packaging for the specific strength. Available in strips.

Indications: Piglit is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It may be used as monotherapy orin combination with other oral antidiabetic agents or with insulin.

Dosage and Administration: Dosage should be individualized based on glycemic response. The usual starting dose is 15 mg or 30 mg once daily. The dose may be increased gradually up to a maximum of 45 mg once daily. Piglit can be taken with or without food. When used in combination with insulin or other oral antidiabetic agents, a lower dose of the concomitant medication may be needed to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia. Follow the physician's instructions carefully.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include upper respiratory tract infection, headache, and peripheral edema (swelling of the ankles and feet). Weight gain is also a common side effect. Less common but potentially serious side effects include heart failure, liver problems, and an increased risk of bone fracture in women.

Precautions: Piglit is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pioglitazone or any of its components, established New York Heart Association (NYHA) Class III or IV heart failure, and active liver disease or elevated liver enzymes. It is not recommended for use in patients with type 1 diabetes or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis. Use with caution in patients with NYHA Class I or II heart failure, history of liver disease, and in elderly patients. Monitor patients for signs and symptoms of heart failure, liver problems, and bone fractures. Regular monitoring of liver enzymes is recommended during the first year of treatment and periodically thereafter.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
