Pizofen TS

Presentation: Each tablet contains 0.5 mg of Pizotifen (as Pizotifen Hydrogen Malate). 

Indications: Pizofen TS is indicated for the prophylactic treatment of vascular headache, including migraine.

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults: The usual starting dose is 0.5 mg daily, taken at night. This may be increased gradually to a maintenance dose of 0.5 mg two or three times daily, or 1 mg at night. The maximum daily dose is usually 3 mg, divided into several doses.
• Children: For children over 2 years, the dosage is usually 0.025 mg per kg of body weight per day, given in divided doses.

It is recommended to follow your doctor's instructions regarding the timing and dosage of Pizofen TS.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include:

• Increased appetite and weight gain
• Drowsiness
• Fatigue
• Dizziness
• Dry mouth

Less common side effects may include:

• Nausea
• Constipation
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Muscle aches

Precautions:

• Inform your doctor if you have a history of glaucoma (narrow-angle), urinary retention, or epilepsy.
• Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease or impaired liver function.
• Pizofen TS may cause drowsiness, so caution should be exercised while driving or operating machinery.
• Avoid abrupt discontinuation of the medication, as it may lead to withdrawal symptoms. The dosage should be tapered gradually under medical supervision.
• The safety of Pizofen TS during pregnancy has not been fully established. It should only be used if the potential benefit outweighs the risk to the fetus. Consult your doctor before use.
• It is not known if Pizotifen passes into breast milk. Breastfeeding is generally not recommended while taking Pizofen TS.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
