💊 Prazole (Omeprazole)

Prazole is a Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) that reduces the amount of acid produced in your stomach. It is a cornerstone treatment for various acid-related gastrointestinal conditions.

📋 Key Indications

• Ulcers: Treatment and prevention of gastric and duodenal ulcers, including those caused by NSAIDs (painkillers) or H. pylori bacteria.

• Reflux (GERD): Management of acid reflux and healing of erosive esophagitis.

• Indigestion: Relief from acid-related dyspepsia (heartburn).

• Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: A rare condition where the stomach produces too much acid.

• Surgery: Prevention of acid aspiration during general anesthesia.

🥄 Dosage & Administration

• Standard Adult Dose: Usually 20 mg once daily (often taken in the morning).

• Duodenal Ulcer: 20 mg for 4 weeks.

• Gastric Ulcer/GERD: 20 mg for 4–8 weeks.

• H. pylori Eradication: 20 mg twice daily, combined with specific antibiotics.

• Note: Onset of relief occurs within one hour, but the full effect can last up to 72 hours.

• Common Side Effects: Headache, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and flatulence.

• Interactions: 🛑 Avoid using with Clopidogrel as it reduces its effectiveness. It may also affect the levels of Warfarin, Phenytoin, and Digoxin.
