Pregaba 100
Presentation: Each capsule contains 100 mg of Pregabalin.
Indications: Pregaba 100 is indicated for the management of:
- Neuropathic pain (nerve pain) in adults.
- As adjunctive therapy in adults with partial onset seizures, with or without secondary generalization.
- Management of Fibromyalgia in adults.
- Management of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) in adults.
Dosage and Administration:
- Dosage must be individualized by the treating physician.
- Neuropathic Pain: The usual starting dose is 150 mg per day, given in two or three divided doses. This could be one 100 mg capsule twice a day, or as directed by your doctor. The dose may be increased gradually to a maximum of 600 mg per day.
- Partial Onset Seizures: The usual starting dose is 150 mg per day, given in two or three divided doses. This could be one 100 mg capsule twice a day, or as directed by your doctor. The dose may be increased gradually to a maximum of 600 mg per day.
- Fibromyalgia: The recommended dose is 300 to 450 mg per day. Dosing should begin at 75 mg twice a day (150 mg/day), which might mean starting with a different strength capsule or adjusting the frequency with your doctor's guidance. The dose may be increased based on efficacy and tolerability.
- Generalized Anxiety Disorder: The usual starting dose is 150 mg per day, given in two or three divided doses. This could be one 100 mg capsule twice a day, or as directed by your doctor. The dose may be increased gradually to a maximum of 600 mg per day.
It can be taken with or without food.
Side Effects: Common side effects may include:
- Dizziness
- Drowsiness
- Dry mouth
- Blurred vision
- Weight gain
- Peripheral edema (swelling of the extremities)
- Difficulty with concentration/attention
Less common side effects may include:
- Increased appetite
- Euphoric mood
- Confusion
- Irritability
- Ataxia (lack of coordination)
- Tremor
- Memory impairment
Precautions:
- Inform your doctor if you have kidney problems, heart problems, or diabetes.
- Use with caution in elderly patients.
- Pregaba 100 may cause dizziness and drowsiness, so caution should be exercised while driving or operating machinery until you know how the medication affects you.
- Avoid abrupt discontinuation of the medication, as it may lead to withdrawal symptoms. The dosage should be tapered gradually under medical supervision.
- The safety of Pregaba 100 during pregnancy has not been fully established. It should only be used if the potential benefit outweighs the risk to the fetus. Consult your doctor before use.
- Pregabalin passes into breast milk. Breastfeeding is not recommended while taking Pregaba 100.
Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
