Pregaba 50

Presentation: Each capsule contains Pregabalin INN 50 mg. Available in blister packs containing strips of capsules. The number of capsules per strip may vary depending on the manufacturer in Bangladesh.

Indications: Pregaba (Pregabalin) is indicated for the treatment of:

• Neuropathic pain in adults.
• As adjunctive therapy in adults with partial-onset seizures with or without secondary generalization.
• Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) in adults.
• Fibromyalgia in adults.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Pregaba is highly individualized and should be determined by a registered medical practitioner.

• Neuropathic Pain: The starting dose is usually 150 mg per day, given in two or three divided doses. The dose may be increased gradually over 3 to 7 days to a maximum dose of 300 mg per day, and if needed, further increased to a maximum of 600 mg per day.
• Adjunctive Therapy for Partial-Onset Seizures: The starting dose is usually 150 mg per day, given in two or three divided doses. The dose may be increased weekly to a maximum recommended dose of 600 mg per day.
• Generalized Anxiety Disorder: The starting dose is usually 150 mg per day. The dose may be increased weekly to a maximum dose of 600 mg per day.
• Fibromyalgia: The starting dose is usually 150 mg per day, given in two divided doses. The dose may be increased gradually to 300 to 450 mg per day. The maximum dose is 600 mg per day.

Pregaba capsules are administered orally and can be taken with or without food. Dosage adjustments are recommended in patients with renal impairment.

Side Effects: Common side effects associated with Pregabalin may include dizziness, somnolence (drowsiness), dry mouth, peripheral edema (swelling of extremities), blurred vision, weight gain, and difficulty with concentration/attention. Other potential side effects may occur. Patients should consult their doctor if they experience any persistent or bothersome side effects.

Precautions: Pregaba is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pregabalin or any of its components. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of angioedema, heart failure, renal impairment, diabetes mellitus, or a history of drug abuse. Pregabalin may cause dizziness and somnolence, which could impair the ability to drive or operate machinery. It should be used with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and only if the potential benefits outweigh the risks.¹Abrupt discontinuation of Pregaba should be avoided to minimize potential withdrawal symptoms.

Storage: Store Pregaba 50 mg capsules in a cool and dry place, below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
