Prodep

Presentation: Capsules containing Fluoxetine Hydrochloride equivalent to Fluoxetine 20 mg.

Indications: Prodep (Fluoxetine) is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), bulimia nervosa, and panic disorder.

Dosage and Administration:

• Depression: The usual starting dose is 20 mg once daily in the morning. The dose may be increased after several weeks if needed, up to a maximum of 60 mg per day.
• OCD: The usual starting dose is 20 mg once daily. The dose may be increased gradually up to 60 mg per day.
• Bulimia Nervosa: The recommended dose is 60 mg once daily.
• Panic Disorder: The initial dose is usually 10 mg once daily, increased after one week to 20 mg once daily. The dose may be increased gradually up to a maximum of 60 mg per day.

Prodep capsules are administered orally once daily. Dosage adjustments should be made gradually and as directed by a healthcare professional.

Side Effects: Common adverse reactions may include nausea, headache, insomnia, drowsiness, diarrhea, dry mouth, increased sweating, tremor, and nervousness. Sexual dysfunction is also a common side effect.

Precautions: Prodep is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to fluoxetine and should not be used concomitantly with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of discontinuing an MAOI. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of seizures, mania/hypomania, liver disease, or bleeding disorders. It may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts and behavior, especially in children, adolescents, and young adults. Avoid abrupt discontinuation.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
