Presentation:Protium is available as gastro-resistant tablets containing Pantoprazole Sodium Sesquihydrate equivalent to Pantoprazole.It typically comes in strengths of 20 mg and 40 mg. The tablets are usually oval, biconvex, and film-coated, often with an imprint indicating the strength (e.g., "P20" or "P40"). Protium is a product of Unimed Unihealth MFG.Ltd. in Bangladesh. It is usually available in blister packs.
Indications: Protium (Pantoprazole) is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) indicated for conditions where the reduction of gastric acid secretion is beneficial, including:
Dosage and Administration:Protium tablets should be swallowed whole with water, one hour before a meal, preferably in the morning.Do not chew or crush the tablets.The dosage and duration of treatment depend on the condition being treated and the patient's response.
Side Effects:Protium (Pantoprazole) is generally well-tolerated.Common side effects may include:
Less common side effects may include dizziness, sleep disorders, rash, pruritus (itching), and fatigue. Long-term use may potentially lead to an increased risk of bone fractures, vitamin B12 deficiency, and hypomagnesaemia (low magnesium levels).
Precautions:Protium (Pantoprazole) is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pantoprazole or any other component of the formulation.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation: Pantoprazole is classified as Pregnancy Category B by the US FDA. While animal studies have not shown teratogenic effects, there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Protium should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Pantoprazole has been shown to be excreted in human milk. A decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the drug, taking into account thebenefit of the drug to the mother.
Storage:Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture.Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date.
