Rabeprol 20 

Presentation:Each enteric-coated tablet contains Rabeprazole Sodium INN 20 mg.Rabeprol is a brand name marketed by Somatec Pharmaceuticals Ltd.in Bangladesh.

Indications:Rabeprol (Rabeprazole) is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) indicated for the treatment of:  

• Active duodenal ulcer  
• Active benign gastric ulcer  
• Symptomatic erosive or ulcerative gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD)  
• Long-term management of GERD (GERD Maintenance)
• Symptomatic treatment of moderate to very severe GERD  
• Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome  
• In combination with appropriate antibacterial therapeutic regimens for the eradication of Helicobacter pyloriin patients with peptic ulcerdisease.  

Dosage and Administration:Rabeprol tablets should be swallowed whole and taken once daily in the morning, before eating.Although food intake has not been shown to affect rabeprazole activity, this regimen helps with compliance.

• Active Duodenal Ulcer and Active Benign Gastric Ulcer:  The recommended oral dose is 20 mg once daily in the morning.Most patients with active duodenal ulcer heal within four weeks, but some may require an additional four weeks. Most patients with active benign gastric ulcer heal within six weeks, but some may require an additional six weeks.
• Erosive or Ulcerative GERD:The recommended oral dose is 20 mg once daily for four to eight weeks.  
• GERD Long-term Management (GERD Maintenance):For long-term management, a maintenance dose of 20 mg or 10 mg once daily can be used depending on patient response.  
• Symptomatic GERD:10 mg once daily in patients without oesophagitis.If symptom control is not achieved within four weeks, further investigation is needed. Once symptoms resolve, subsequent control can be achieved with an on-demand regimen of 10 mg once daily as needed.
• Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: The recommended adult starting dose is 60 mg once a day, which may be adjusted up to 120 mg/day based on individual needs. Single daily doses up to 100 mg/day may be given, or 120 mg may be divided into two 60 mg doses daily.Treatment should continue as long as clinically indicated.
• H. pylori Eradication: The recommended regimen is Rabeprazole 20 mg twice daily, Clarithromycin 500 mg twice daily, and Amoxicillin 1 g twice daily for 7 days. All medications should be taken with morning and evening meals.

Side Effects:Common side effects may include headache, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, flatulence, and dizziness.  

Precautions:Rabeprol (Rabeprazole) is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rabeprazole, other PPIs, or any excipients.Gastric malignancy should be excluded before initiating therapy. Caution should be exercised in patients with severe hepatic impairment.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation:Rabeprazole should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus.It is not knownif rabeprazole is excreted in human milk. Caution should be exercised when administering to breastfeeding women.

Storage:Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture.Keep out of reach of children.
