Reelife DS Tablet

Presentation: Each tablet contains Amitriptyline Hydrochloride 25 mg and Chlordiazepoxide 10 mg. It is manufactured by Eskayef Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

Indications: Reelife DS is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe depression associated with moderate to severe anxiety. Symptoms that may respond within the first week of treatment include insomnia, feelings of guilt or worthlessness, agitation, psychic and somatic anxiety, suicidal thoughts, and anorexia. 

Dosage and Administration: The typical initial dosage is 3 to 4 tablets daily in divided doses, but it should be as directed by a physician. The dosage should be reduced to the smallest effective amount once a satisfactory response is achieved.

Side Effects: Common side effects include drowsiness, dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, dizziness, and bloating.

Precautions: Because of its Amitriptyline component, Reelife DS may block the antihypertensive action of guanethidine or compounds with a similar mechanism.  

Contraindications: It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines or tricyclic antidepressants and should not be given with a monoamine oxidase inhibitor.

Mechanism of action: Amitriptyline, a tricyclic antidepressant, works by inhibiting the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin in the brain. Chlordiazepoxide, an anxiolytic, enhances GABA-mediated chloride influx, causing membrane hyperpolarization.
