Remicron MR 60 

Presentation:Remicron MR 60 is a modified-release tablet containing Gliclazide 60 mgas the active pharmaceutical ingredient.It is usually available in blister packs.The modified-release formulation allows for a once-daily dosage.

Indications:Remicron MR is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitusin adults when diet, exercise, and weight reduction alone have not been adequate in controlling blood glucose levels.Gliclazide is a sulfonylurea that works by increasing the release of insulin from the beta cells of the pancreas and by reducing glucose production in the liver.The modified-release formulation provides a sustained release of gliclazide, allowing for once-daily administration.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Remicron MR 60 should be determined by the physician based on the individual patient's blood glucose levels. The recommended daily dose is usually one to four tablets (maximum 120 mg) in a single intake at breakfast time.The tablet should be swallowed whole with a glass of water at breakfast time (preferably at the same time each day) and must not be chewed or crushed.Always eat a meal after taking this medication.

Side Effects:The most common side effect of Remicron MR is hypoglycemia(low blood sugar), which can occur if meals are skipped, during strenuous exercise, or when used in combination with other antidiabetic agents.Symptoms of hypoglycemia may include sweating, tremor, anxiety, confusion, dizziness, and palpitations.Other potential side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea and indigestion, and skin reactions.  

Precautions:Remicron MR is contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal or hepatic impairment, and known hypersensitivity to gliclazide or other sulfonylureas.It should be used with caution in elderly patients and those at higher risk of hypoglycemia. Alcohol consumption should be avoided or minimized. Certain medications can interact with gliclazide, potentially altering its blood glucose-lowering effect.Regular blood glucose monitoring is necessary during treatment.  

Storage:Store Remicron MR 60 tablets below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light.Keep out of the reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
