Presentation: Each film-coated tablet contains Linagliptin 5 mg. Available in strips.

Indications: Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults to improve glycemic control when diet and exercise alone are inadequate. May be used as monotherapy when metformin is inappropriate or contraindicated, or in combination with other antidiabetic medications.

Dosage and Administration: The recommended dose is 5 mg once daily. It can be taken with or without food at any time of the day. If added to metformin, the metformin dose should be maintained. When used with a sulfonylurea, a lower dose of the sulfonylurea may be considered to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia.

Side Effects: When used alone, the incidence of side effects is usually low. In combination with metformin and sulfonylurea, possible side effects include hypoglycemia, nasopharyngitis, cough, and pancreatitis. Other reported side effects include headache and upper respiratory tract infections.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to linagliptin or any of the excipients. Use with caution in patients with a history of pancreatitis. May increase the risk of hypoglycemia when used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas; a dose reduction of the sulfonylurea or insulin may be necessary.

Storage: Store in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
