Renorma 2.5

Presentation: Renorma 2.5 Tablet contains Tibolone BP 2.5 mg as the active pharmaceutical ingredient. It is presented as a tablet for oral administration and is available in blister packs.

Indications: Renorma is indicated for the management of symptoms resulting from the natural or surgical menopause in postmenopausal women. These symptoms include vasomotor symptoms (such as hot flushes and night sweats), vaginal atrophy (dryness, itching, and discomfort), and may also have a positive effect on mood and libido. Additionally, Renorma is indicated for the prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis in women who are at high risk of fractures and cannot take other medicines used to prevent osteoporosis.

Dosage and Administration: The recommended dosage of Renorma is one tablet (2.5 mg) taken orally once daily. The tablet should be swallowed with some water or other drink, preferably at the same time each day. For the treatment of menopausal symptoms, improvement is usually seen within a few weeks, with optimal results after at least three months of therapy. For the prevention of osteoporosis, long-term treatment may be necessary. Women experiencing a natural menopause should commence treatment with Renorma at least 12 months after their last natural bleed. In case of a surgical menopause, treatment may commence immediately. The need for continuation of treatment should be reviewed with a healthcare professional after 6-12 months, taking into account the individual's risk-benefit profile.

Side Effects: Common side effects associated with Renorma may include vaginal bleeding or spotting (mainly during the initial months of treatment), headache, migraine, edema (swelling), dizziness, pruritus (itching), weight gain, nausea, abdominal pain, rash, and depression. Less common but potentially serious side effects may include an increased risk of thromboembolic events (such as deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, stroke, and myocardial infarction), endometrial hyperplasia, and breast cancer.

Precautions: Renorma is contraindicated in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have known or suspected hormone-dependent tumors (such as breast or endometrial cancer), have a history of or active cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disorders, active deep vein thrombosis or thromboembolic disorders, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, or severe liver disorders. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of risk factors for thromboembolic disorders, impaired glucose tolerance, hypertension, or epilepsy. Regular medical check-ups, including breast examinations and mammograms, are recommended during treatment.

Storage: Store Renorma 2.5 tablets below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of the reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
