Presentation: Rephaston 10 Tablet, available in Bangladesh, contains Dydrogesterone 10 mg.
Indications: Rephaston is indicated for conditions related to progesterone deficiency, including threatened and habitual miscarriage, dysmenorrhoea, endometriosis, secondary amenorrhoea, irregular menstrual cycles, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, and luteal insufficiency-related infertility. It is also used for luteal support in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and in Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) to counteract endometrial hyperplasia due to estrogen.
Dosage and Administration: Dosage is individualized based on the specific condition. Tablets are for oral use, with or without food. For threatened miscarriage, initially 40 mg, then 10 mg every eight hours. For habitual miscarriage, 10 mg twice daily until week 20 of pregnancy. For dysmenorrhoea, 10 mg twice daily from day 5 to 25 of the cycle. For endometriosis, 10 mg two or three times daily from day 5 to 25 or continuously. For secondary amenorrhoea and irregular cycles, typically 10 mg twice daily from day 11 to 25, often with concurrent estrogen. For luteal insufficiency infertility, 10 mg daily from day 14 to 25 for at least six cycles. For ART luteal support, 10 mg three times daily from oocyte retrieval up to 10 weeks if pregnant. For HRT, 10 mg daily for the last 12-14 days of estrogen therapy in a cycle.
Side Effects: Common side effects include headache, nausea, menstrual disorders, and breast pain. Less frequent effects may involve dizziness, abdominal pain, mood changes, acne, and back pain.
Precautions: Contraindicated in dydrogesterone hypersensitivity and progestogen-dependent neoplasms. Caution in thromboembolic disorders, liver disease, and depression. Investigate abnormal vaginal bleeding before use. Breakthrough bleeding or spotting may occur. Discontinue if severe headache, increased blood pressure, or thromboembolism develops. Monitor for visual disturbances or migraine.
Use in Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Used in pregnancy under medical supervision. Considered compatible with breastfeeding, but consult a physician.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
