Indications

Revital is indicated for the treatment and prevention of vitamin and mineral deficiencies. It is used in situations such as:

• Restricted diets, improper food intake, alcoholism, or decreased absorption.
• Increased requirements due to acute and chronic diseases, pregnancy, lactation, menopause, infections, and convalescence.
• As a supplement during antibiotic treatment. It is also used for periconceptional supplementation (three months before conception up to the first trimester) to help prevent serious birth defects.

Composition

Revital is a balanced combination of multivitamins and multiminerals. It contains:

• Vitamins: Vitamin A, D, B1, B2, B6, B12, Nicotinamide, Calcium pantothenate, Folic acid, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E.
• Minerals: Ferrous Sulphate (Iron), Cupric Sulphate (Copper), Magnesium Sulphate, Zinc Sulphate, Potassium Iodide (Iodine), and Potassium Sulphate.

Pharmacology

Vitamins and minerals are essential for normal metabolic functions. The B-group vitamins are components of enzyme systems that regulate the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Vitamin C is crucial for tissue repair. Vitamin A is vital for vision and epithelial tissue growth. Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant. Vitamin D is essential for bone health. Minerals such as iron, copper, manganese, and zinc serve as catalysts in various enzyme systems.

Dosage & Administration

The recommended dosage is one tablet daily, taken orally, for adults and children over 5 years of age, or as directed by a physician.

Contraindications

This tablet is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of its components. It is not intended for the treatment of severe, specific vitamin or mineral deficiencies. It is not recommended for patients being treated with levodopa, as pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) can decrease its effectiveness. During the first trimester of pregnancy, large doses of Vitamin A (more than 10 tablets per day) may be teratogenic (cause birth defects).

Side Effects

Side effects are generally associated with levels substantially higher than those in this tablet. Some patients may experience gastrointestinal intolerance due to the iron content.

Pregnancy & Lactation

The recommended daily dose should not be exceeded during the first trimester of pregnancy due to the potential for teratogenicity with high doses of Vitamin A.

Precautions & Warnings

This tablet is not intended to treat pernicious anemia or other megaloblastic anemias caused by a Vitamin B12 deficiency.
