Rispolux 4 Tablet

Presentation: Each film-coated tablet contains 4 mg of Risperidone. 

Indications: Rispolux is indicated for the treatment of:

• Schizophrenia
• Manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder
• Irritability in autistic children and adolescents

Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Rispolux varies depending on the condition being treated and the individual patient's response. It is usually administered once or twice daily.

• Schizophrenia: The usual starting dose for adults is 2 mg per day, which may be increased gradually to a maintenance dose of 4 to 6 mg per day.
• Mania: The usual starting dose for adults is 2 mg once daily, which may be adjusted to a range of 1 to 6 mg per day.
• Irritability in Autistic Patients: Dosage is based on weight. Consult a healthcare professional for specific instructions for children and adolescents.

Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose and duration of treatment.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include:

• Drowsiness
• Insomnia
• Agitation
• Anxiety
• Headache
• Increased appetite
• Weight gain
• Extrapyramidal symptoms (e.g., tremors, stiffness, restlessness)
• Dizziness
• Blurred vision

Less common but potentially serious side effects can occur. It's important to discuss any unusual symptoms with your doctor.

Precautions:

• Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease, or conditions predisposing to hypotension.
• May cause tardive dyskinesia (abnormal involuntary movements).
• Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS), a potentially life-threatening condition, can occur.
• Monitor for hyperglycemia and diabetes.
• May increase prolactin levels.
• Use with caution in the elderly, especially those with dementia-related psychosis, as it may increase the risk of stroke and death. Rispolux is not approved for the treatment of dementia-related psychosis.
• Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
• May cause drowsiness; caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery.
• Use with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding; consult your doctor.

Contraindications: Rispolux is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to risperidone or any of the excipients.

Drug Interactions: Rispolux can interact with other medications, including:

• Central nervous system depressants (e.g., benzodiazepines, opioids, alcohol)
• Levodopa and dopamine agonists
• Antihypertensive agents
• Drugs that inhibit or induce certain liver enzymes (e.g., fluoxetine, paroxetine, carbamazepine, rifampicin)

Inform your doctor about all the medications you are currently taking.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
