Safyron 10

Presentation: Each film-coated tablet contains 10 mg of dydrogesterone.

Indications: Safyron 10 is indicated for various conditions related to progesterone deficiency, including:

• Threatened and habitual miscarriage.
• Dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation).
• Endometriosis.
• Secondary amenorrhea (absence of menstruation).
• Irregular menstrual cycles.
• Dysfunctional uterine bleeding.
• Infertility due to luteal insufficiency.
• Luteal support in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) treatments.
• Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) to counteract the effects of unopposed estrogen in women with an intact uterus experiencing menopausal symptoms.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage varies depending on the condition being treated and should always be as prescribed by your doctor. The tablets are for oral administration and should be swallowed whole with a glass of water, with or without food. It is recommended to take the tablet at the same time each day. Examples of typical dosages include:

• Threatened miscarriage: 40 mg as a single dose, followed by 10 mg every eight hours until symptoms subside.
• Habitual miscarriage: 10 mg twice daily until the 20th week of pregnancy.
• Dysmenorrhea:10 mg twice daily from day 5 to day 25 of the menstrual cycle.  
• Endometriosis:10 mg two or three times daily from day 5 to day 25 of the cycle or continuously.  
• Hormone Replacement Therapy: The dosage depends on the estrogen regimen.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include headache, nausea, menstrual disorders, and breast pain or tenderness. Less common side effects can include dizziness, abdominal pain, and vaginal bleeding or spotting.

Precautions: Safyron 10 is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to dydrogesterone or any of the excipients and in patients with known or suspected progestogen-dependent neoplasms (e.g., meningioma). Before starting Safyron 10, inform your doctor if you have any pre-existing conditions, especially liver problems, depression, or a history of thromboembolic disorders. It is important to tell your doctor about all the medications you are currently taking, including herbal supplements, as some drugs may interact with dydrogesterone. Safyron 10 should not be used during pregnancy unless specifically prescribed by a doctor. It passes into breast milk, so breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
