SeaCal DX

Presentation: Film-coated tablets containing Calcium Carbonate derived from coral sources equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium and Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) 400 IU. Coral calcium is marketed as a natural source of calcium that may also contain trace minerals. The tablets are intended for oral administration. The appearance may vary depending on the manufacturer and what is available in Bangladesh.

Indications: SeaCal DX is indicated for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis, rickets, osteomalacia, tetany, and parathyroid disease. It is also used as a phosphate binder in chronic renal failure, during therapy with anti-seizure medications, and in the prevention and treatment of calcium and vitamin D3 deficiency, especially in elderly patients. It can also be used to ensure adequate dietary intake of calcium and Vitamin D3 in other conditions.

Dosage and Administration: The usual adult dose is one tablet once or twice daily, preferably with or after a meal to enhance calcium absorption, or as directed by a physician. The dosage may vary based on the individual's needs and the specific formulation. Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your doctor.

Side Effects: Generally well-tolerated when taken as directed. However, high doses may lead to hypercalcemia (high levels of calcium in the blood), which can cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, and weakness. Individuals with allergies to marine products should exercise caution.

Precautions: Use with caution in individuals with hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria (high levels of calcium in the urine), kidney stones, or kidney disease. Consult a physician before use if you have hyperparathyroidism, sarcoidosis, or are taking other medications, especially cardiac glycosides (e.g., digoxin) or thiazide diuretics, as interactions may occur.
