Secrin 1

Indications: Secrin is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to lower blood glucose in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus whose hyperglycemia cannot be controlled by diet and exercise alone. It can be used alone or in combination with insulin or other oral antidiabetic medications.

Dosage and Administration: The usual starting dose is 1 mg once daily. Your doctor may adjust the dose based on your blood glucose levels, usually increasing it gradually at intervals of 1 to 2 weeks. The maximum recommended daily dose is typically 8 mg. Secrin should be taken once daily, shortly before or with the first main meal of the day (usually breakfast). It is important not to skip meals while taking Secrin.

Side Effects: The most common side effect of Secrin is hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Symptoms of hypoglycemia can include:

• Sweating
• Tremors
• Confusion
• Hunger
• Irritability
• Weakness
• Rapid heartbeat

Other possible side effects may include:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Abdominal pain
• Visual disturbances (temporary, especially at the start of treatment)
• Allergic skin reactions (rash, itching, hives)
• Weight gain
• Liver problems (rare)
• Blood disorders (rare)

Precautions: Secrin is contraindicated in patients with:

• Type 1 diabetes mellitus
• Diabetic ketoacidosis
• Severe kidney or liver disease
• Hypersensitivity to glimepiride or other sulfonylureas or sulfonamides
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Caution should be exercised in elderly patients, patients with impaired kidney or liver function, and those with conditions that may increase the risk of hypoglycemia (e.g., irregular eating habits, strenuous exercise, alcohol consumption). Regular blood glucose monitoring is essential during treatment with Secrin.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
