SGN Plus 500 

Presentation: Each film-coated tablet contains Sitagliptin Phosphate Monohydrate INN equivalent to Sitagliptin 50 mg and Metformin Hydrochloride BP 500 mg. Available in strips.

Indications: Indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with both sitagliptin and metformin is appropriate.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen, effectiveness, and tolerability, not exceeding the maximum recommended daily dose of sitagliptin 100 mg and metformin 2000 mg. The usual starting dose is one tablet twice daily with meals. Swallow the tablets whole with water; do not crush or chew. Dose escalation should be gradual to reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, and headache. Hypoglycemia may occur when used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas. Other possible side effects include nasopharyngitis and upper respiratory tract infection.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²), acute metabolic acidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and known hypersensitivity to sitagliptin or metformin. Not recommended for use in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis. Use with caution in patients with moderate renal impairment, liver disease, and a history of pancreatitis. Avoid excessive alcohol intake.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
