Silinor-M 500

Presentation:Each tablet contains sitagliptin phosphate monohydrate equivalent to 50 mg of sitagliptin and metformin hydrochloride 500 mg.

Indications:Silinor-M 500 is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with bothsitagliptin and metformin is appropriate.  

Dosage and Administration:   The dosage should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen, effectiveness, and tolerability, not exceeding the maximum recommendeddaily dose of sitagliptin (100 mg) and metformin (2000 mg). It is usually administered orally twice daily with meals to reduce the gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin. The recommended starting dose in patients not currently treated with metformin isone tablet twice daily. In patients already treated with metformin, the starting dose of Silinor-M 500 should provide the same daily dose of metformin.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, and upper respiratory tract infection. Hypoglycemia may occur when Silinor-M 500 is used in combination with insulin secretagogues (e.g., sulfonylureas) or insulin.Pancreatitis has been reported in some patients receiving sitagliptin.Lactic acidosis is a rare but serious potential side effect associated with metformin.⁹  

Precautions:Renal function should be assessed before initiating Silinor-M 500 and periodically thereafter.Use is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min). Caution is advised in patients with a history of pancreatitis. Hepatic impairment, heart failure, and excessive alcohol intake are also important considerations.  

Storage:Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture.Keep out of reach of children.
