Sitadus M ER 500 

Presentation:Sitadus M ER 500 Tablet, available in Bangladesh, is a combination tablet containing Sitagliptin 50 mg (immediate release)and Metformin Hydrochloride BP 500 mg (extended release).

Indications:Sitadus M ER is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellituswhentreatment with both sitagliptin and metformin extended-release is appropriate.  

Dosageand Administration: The dosage should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen, effectiveness, and tolerability, not exceeding the maximum recommendeddaily dose of sitagliptin 100 mg and metformin 2000 mg extended release. It is administered once daily with a meal, preferably in the evening. Dosage escalation should be gradual to reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin.Patients switching from separate tablets of sitagliptin and metformin can switch to Sitadus M ER containing the same total daily doses of each component, without exceeding the maximum recommended daily dose of metformin extended release. The tablet should be swallowed whole and not crushed, split, or chewed.  

Side Effects: Common side effects reported with sitagliptin and metformin combination include diarrhea, upper respiratory tract infection, and headache. Other possible side effects related to metformin include nausea, vomiting, and abdominal discomfort.Hypoglycemia may occur when Sitadus M ER is used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas.

Precautions:Sitadus M ER is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²), acute or chronic metabolic acidosis (including diabetic ketoacidosis), or a history of serious hypersensitivity reaction to sitagliptin or metformin.It is not recommended for use in patients with type 1 diabetes. Caution should be exercised in patients with moderate renal impairment, heart failure, liver disease, and excessive alcohol intake due to the risk of lactic acidosis associated with metformin. Renal function should be assessed prior to initiation and periodically thereafter. Discontinue if pancreatitis is suspected.

Storage:Store Sitadus M ER 500 tablets in a cool and dry place, protected from light.Keep out of reach of children.
