Sitalia M 500

Presentation:Each tablet contains 50 mg of sitagliptin (as sitagliptin phosphate monohydrate) and 500 mg of metformin hydrochloride.The tablets are typically film-coated and oblong in shape. Available in blister packs.

Indications:Sitalia M is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with both sitagliptin and metformin is appropriate.This includespatients whose diabetes is not adequately controlled on metformin alone or sitagliptin alone, or those already treated with the combination as separate tablets.  

Dosage and Administration: The usual dose is one tablet taken orally twice daily with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin. Dosage should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen, effectiveness, and tolerability, up to a maximum daily dose of 100 mg of sitagliptin and 2000 mg of metformin. For patients not currently treated with metformin, the recommended starting dose is 50 mg sitagliptin/500 mg metformin twice daily.Patients already on metformin may be switched to Sitalia M containing the same doses of metformin and 50 mg sitagliptin twice daily.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include diarrhea, upper respiratory tract infection, and headache. Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) can occur when used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas. Other possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Rare but serious side effects may include pancreatitis and allergic reactions.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, metabolic acidosis (including diabetic ketoacidosis), and a history of serious hypersensitivity reaction to sitagliptin or metformin. Use with caution in patients with moderate renal impairment, a history of pancreatitis, and heart failure. Temporary discontinuation may be necessary in situations of dehydration, severe infection, or before major surgery. Alcohol consumption should be avoided. Not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless clearly needed.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
