Sizodon 1 Tablet

Presentation: Each tablet contains 1 mg of Risperidone.

Indications: Sizodon is an atypical antipsychotic medication used to treat:

• Schizophrenia in adults and adolescents 13 years and older.
• Manic or mixed episodes of Bipolar I Disorder in adults and children 10 years and older.
• Irritability associated with Autistic Disorder in children and adolescents 5 to 16 years of age.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage varies depending on the condition being treated and the patient's age and response. It is usually administered orally once or twice daily. Your doctor will determine the appropriate starting dose and maintenance dose. Some general guidelines:

• Schizophrenia (Adults): The usual starting dose is 2 mg once daily. The dose may be adjusted gradually by your doctor. The usual maintenance dose is 4 to 6 mg daily.
• Schizophrenia (Adolescents 13-17 years): The usual starting dose is 1 mg once or twice daily. The dose may be adjusted gradually by your doctor to a target dose of 3 mg daily.
• Bipolar Mania (Adults): The usual starting dose is 2-3 mg once daily. The dose may be adjusted gradually by your doctor to a target dose of 1-6 mg daily.
• Bipolar Mania (Children and Adolescents 10-17 years): The usual starting dose is 0.5 mg once or twice daily. The dose may be adjusted gradually by your doctor to a target dose of 1-2.5 mg daily.
• Irritability associated with Autistic Disorder (Children and Adolescents 5-16 years): The starting dose is typically 0.25 mg twice daily. The dose may be adjusted gradually by your doctor to a target dose of 0.5 mg daily.

Sizodon can be taken with or without food. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include:

• Drowsiness
• Dizziness
• Weight gain
• Increased appetite
• Fatigue
• Restlessness
• Tremor
• Stiffness
• Blurred vision
• Constipation
• Nausea
• Increased saliva production

Less common but potentially serious side effects can occur. It is important to contact your doctor immediately if you experience any unusual or severe side effects, such as uncontrolled movements, changes in mood or behavior, fever with muscle stiffness, or signs of an allergic reaction.

Precautions:

• Inform your doctor about any pre-existing medical conditions, including heart problems, diabetes, seizures, high cholesterol, or a history of suicidal thoughts.
• Sizodon may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors in young adults. Monitor for any changes in mood or behavior.
• Use caution when driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you, as it may cause drowsiness or dizziness.
• Avoid alcohol while taking Sizodon as it can worsen side effects.
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Contraindications: Sizodon is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to risperidone or any of the inactive ingredients in the tablet.

Drug Interactions: Sizodon can interact with various medications. Inform your doctor about all the medicines you are currently taking, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, and herbal supplements, to avoid potential drug interactions.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
