Sizopin 100

Presentation: Tablets containing Clozapine 100 mg.

Indications: Management of schizophrenia in patients unresponsive to or intolerant of conventional antipsychotics. Also used to manage psychotic disorders in Parkinson's disease when standard treatment has failed. May reduce the risk of recurrent suicidal behavior in patients with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder.

Dosage & Administration: Adults: Initial dose is usually 12.5 mg once or twice daily, then gradually increased as tolerated to a target dose of 300-450 mg daily in divided doses by the end of two weeks. Maximum dose is 900 mg daily. Dosage should be individualized and adjusted by the physician.

Side Effects: Common: drowsiness, dizziness, headache, tremor, fast heartbeat, low blood pressure, increased salivation, sweating, dry mouth, nausea, constipation, visual disturbances, weight gain. Serious: agranulocytosis (low white blood cell count), seizures, myocarditis, cardiomyopathy, orthostatic hypotension, neuroleptic malignant syndrome.

Precautions: Requires regular blood monitoring (Absolute Neutrophil Count - ANC) before and during treatment. Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, history of seizures, liver or kidney disease, glaucoma, enlarged prostate, diabetes. Avoid abrupt discontinuation. May cause drowsiness and affect alertness. Not recommended for use in elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
