Slipam 15 Capsule (15mg)
Presentation:
- Each capsule contains 15 mg of Flurazepam Hydrochloride BP.
Indications:
- Treatment of insomnia characterized by:
- Difficulty falling asleep
- Frequent nocturnal awakenings
- Early morning awakening
- Belongs to the benzodiazepine class of hypnotic medications.
Dosage and Administration:
- Adults: Usual dose is 15-30 mg (1-2 capsules) taken orally at bedtime.
- Elderly or debilitated patients: Recommended initial dose is 15 mg at bedtime, may be adjusted by a physician.
- Duration of treatment should be as short as possible, typically a few days up to a maximum of four weeks, including gradual withdrawal.
- Swallow whole with water.
- Avoid taking with alcohol or other central nervous system depressants.
Side Effects:
- Common:
- Daytime drowsiness
- Dizziness
- Lightheadedness
- Lack of coordination (ataxia)
- Confusion
- Memory impairment
- "Hangover" effect (grogginess the following day)
- Less common:
- Gastrointestinal disturbances
- Blurred vision
- Changes in libido
- Prolonged use may lead to psychological and physical dependence.
Precautions:
- Inform your doctor about allergies to flurazepam or other benzodiazepines.
- Use with caution in patients with:
- Respiratory insufficiency
- Liver or kidney disease
- History of substance abuse
- May impair the ability to drive or operate machinery. Avoid these activities until effects are known.
- Generally not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to potential harm. Consult your doctor for safer alternatives.
- Abrupt cessation may lead to withdrawal symptoms, especially after prolonged use. Dosage should be tapered off under medical supervision.
