Sliptin 25 

Presentation: Each tablet of Sliptin 25 contains Sitagliptin Phosphate Monohydrate INN equivalent to Sitagliptin 25 mg. It is available in strips. 

Indications: Sliptin (sitagliptin) is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.It can be used as monotherapy or in combinationwith other glucose-lowering medications such as metformin, sulfonylureas, or thiazolidinediones.

Dosage and Administration: The recommended dose of Sliptin is 100 mg once daily. However, a dose of 25 mg once daily is recommended for patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²) or end-stage renal disease requiring hemodialysis. For patients with moderate renal impairment (creatinine clearance ≥ 30 to < 50 mL/min/1.73 m²), the dose is 50 mg once daily. Sliptin can be taken with or without food. If a dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as remembered. A double dose should not be taken on the same day.

Side Effects: Common side effects reported with sitagliptin include upper respiratory tract infection, stuffy or runny nose and sore throat, and headache. Hypoglycemia may occur when sitagliptin is used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas. Less common side effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances. Postmarketing reports have included serious hypersensitivity reactions (including anaphylaxis, angioedema, and exfoliative skin conditions), pancreatitis, and severe joint pain.

Precautions: Sliptin (sitagliptin) is contraindicated in patients with a history of a serious hypersensitivity reaction to sitagliptin. If pancreatitis is suspected, Sliptin should be promptly discontinued. Caution should be exercised when Sliptin is used in combination with insulin secretagogues (e.g., sulfonylureas) or insulin, as a lower dose of the insulin secretagogue or insulin may be required to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia. Renal function should be assessed prior to initiation of Sliptin and periodically thereafter.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
