Sliptin-M 500

Presentation:Sliptin-M 500 is a combination tablet containing sitagliptin 50 mg and metformin hydrochloride 500 mg.Sliptin-M is manufactured by Drug International Ltd. in Bangladesh and is available in other strengths as well. Always verify the exact composition from the product packaging.

Indications: Sliptin-M is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with both sitagliptin and metformin is appropriate.It is used in patients whose blood sugar is not adequately controlled with metformin alone or who are already treated with sitagliptin and metformin as separate tablets.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Sliptin-M should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen, effectiveness, and tolerability, while not exceeding the maximum recommended daily dose ofsitagliptin 100 mg and metformin2000 mg. It is usually taken twice daily with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin. The recommended starting dose for patients not currently treated with metformin is 50 mg sitagliptin/500 mg metformin hydrochloride twice daily, with gradual dose escalationto reduce gastrointestinal side effects.  

Side Effects: Common side effects may include:

• Diarrhea 
• Nausea 
• Vomiting 
• Upset stomach 
• Headache 
• Nasal congestion 
• Sore throat 
• Upper respiratory tract infection
• Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), especially when used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas.  

Precautions: Sliptin-M is contraindicated in patients with:  

• Severe renal impairment. 
• Acute or chronic metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis. 
• Known hypersensitivity to sitagliptin or metformin.

It should be used with caution in patients with moderate renal impairment, liver disease, and a history of pancreatitis. Excessive alcohol intake should be avoided due to the increased risk of lactic acidosis associated with metformin.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
