Sperid Syrup contains Risperidone as the active ingredient, typically at a concentration of 1mg per 1ml of oral solution. It is available in 100ml bottles.

Indications:

Sperid (Risperidone) belongs to a group of medicines called antipsychotics and is used to treat conditions like:

• Schizophrenia: A mental illness where you may see, hear, or feel things that are not there, believe things that are not true, or feel unusually suspicious or confused.  
• Mania:   A condition where you may feel very excited, elated, agitated, enthusiastic, or hyperactive, occurring in bipolar disorder.  
• Short-term treatment (up to 6 weeks) of long-term aggression in people with Alzheimer's dementia who harm themselves or others, after² non-drug treatments have been tried.
• Short-term treatment (up to 6 weeks) of long-term aggression in intellectually disabled children (at least 5 years old) and adolescents with conduct disorder.

Dosage and Administration:

The dosage of Sperid Syrup will be determined by your doctor based on your condition, age, and response to treatment. It is usually taken once or twice daily. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully. The syrup comes with a syringe and bottle adapter to help you measure the correct dose. It can be taken with or without food.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of Risperidone can include:

• Drowsiness
• Insomnia
• Agitation
• Anxiety
• Headache
• Less commonly: fatigue, blurred vision, constipation, nausea, vomiting, and increased prolactin levels in the blood.

Less common but potentially serious side effects can occur. If you experience fever, muscle stiffness, altered consciousness, or seizures, stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor immediately.

Precautions:

Inform your doctor if you have any pre-existing heart conditions, kidney or liver problems, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Risperidone can lower blood pressure and may cause drowsiness, so be cautious when driving or operating machinery. Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine as it can increase drowsiness.
