Syndopa 110

Presentation: Each tablet contains Levodopa BP 100 mg and Carbidopa BP 10 mg. 

Indications: Syndopa is indicated for the treatment of Parkinson's disease, helping to relieve symptoms such as tremor, rigidity, slowed movement (bradykinesia), and balance problems. Levodopa works by being converted to dopamine in the brain, a chemical that is deficient in Parkinson's disease. Carbidopa helps prevent the breakdown of levodopa outside the brain, allowing more of it to reach the brain where it is needed.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Syndopa is highly individualized and must be determined by a registered medical practitioner. Typically, treatment starts with lower doses that are gradually increased to find the best balance between symptom control and side effects. The total daily dose and how often it is taken will vary from person to person. Syndopa tablets are for oral use and can be taken with or without food, but it is often recommended to take them at the same time each day. High-protein meals may affect how well the body absorbs levodopa.

Side Effects: Common side effects of Syndopa may include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, lightheadedness, dizziness, drowsiness, and uncontrolled movements (dyskinesias). Other possible side effects include confusion, hallucinations, sleep problems, and changes in blood pressure. Patients should tell their doctor if they experience any persistent or bothersome side effects, as dose adjustments may be needed.

Precautions: Syndopa should not be used by patients who are allergic to levodopa or carbidopa, have narrow-angle glaucoma, or have a history of melanoma. Caution is advised for patients with heart problems, lung disease, stomach ulcers, mental health disorders, or hormone problems. Elderly patients should also use it with caution. Syndopa can interact with certain other medications, including MAO inhibitors. Patients should make sure their doctor knows about all the medicines they are taking.
