Tagus 20mg 

Presentation:Tagus 20mg Tablet, available in Bangladesh, contains Rabeprazole Sodium 20 mgas an enteric-coated tablet for oral administration. 

Indications: Tagus (Rabeprazole) is indicated for the treatment of:  

• Active duodenal ulcer  
• Active benign gastric ulcer  
• Symptomatic erosive or ulcerative gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD)  
• Long-term management of GERD (GERD Maintenance)  
• Symptomatic treatment of moderate to very severe GERD (symptomatic GERD)  
• Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome  
• In combinationwith appropriate antibacterial therapeutic regimens for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori in patients with peptic ulcerdisease.  

Dosage and Administration:Tagus 20mg tablets should be swallowed whole and not chewed or crushed.For indications requiring once-daily treatment, it should be taken in the morning, before eating.

• Active Duodenal Ulcer and Active Benign Gastric Ulcer:   The recommended oral dose is 20 mg once daily in the morning. Most patients with active duodenal ulcer heal within four weeks, but some may require an additional four weeks. Most patients with active benign gastric ulcer heal within six weeks, but some may require an additional six weeks.
• Erosive or Ulcerative Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): The recommended oral dose is 20 mg once daily for four to eight weeks.
• Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease Long-term Management (GERD Maintenance): A maintenance dose of 20 mg or 10 mg once daily can be used depending on patient response.  
• Symptomatic treatment of moderate to very severe Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease (symptomatic GERD):10 mg once daily in patients without oesophagitis. If symptom controlis not achieved within four weeks, further investigation is needed. Once symptoms resolve, subsequent control can be achieved with an on-demand regimen of 10 mg once daily when needed.
• Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: The recommended adult starting dose is 60 mg once a day, which may be adjusted up to 120 mg/day based on individual needs. Single daily doses up to 100 mg/day may be given. Doses of 120 mg/day may require divided doses, 60 mg twice daily. Treatment should continue as long as clinically indicated.
• Eradication of H. pylori: The recommended combination for 7 days is Rabeprazole sodium 20 mg twice daily, clarithromycin 500 mg twice daily, and amoxicillin 1g twice daily.

Side Effects:Common side effects of Rabeprazole may include headache, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, flatulence, constipation, and sore throat.Less common side effects may include dizziness, dry mouth, and rash.  

Precautions:Tagus (Rabeprazole) is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Rabeprazole, other proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), or any excipients in the formulation.Gastric malignancy should be ruled out before initiating therapy. Caution should be exercised in patients with severe hepatic impairment and during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
