Presentation:Each tablet contains Trifluoperazine Hydrochloride equivalent to Trifluoperazine 1 mg.
Indications:Telazine is indicated for the management of psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia.It may also be used for the short-term treatment of severe anxiety and agitation in adults.
Dosage and Administration:The dosage is individualized and determined by the physician based on the severity of the condition and the patient's response.
Psychotic Disorders (Schizophrenia):
Telazine tablets are administered orally. It is important to follow the physician's instructions regarding the timing and frequency of doses.
Side Effects: Common side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, dry mouth, constipation, and extrapyramidal symptoms (EPS), such as restlessness, muscle stiffness, tremors, and involuntary movements. The risk of EPS is generally higher with higher doses.
Less common but potentially serious side effects can include tardive dyskinesia (involuntary movements that may be irreversible), neuroleptic malignant syndrome (a rare but life-threatening reaction with fever, muscle rigidity, altered mental status, and autonomic dysfunction), and cardiac arrhythmias.
Precautions: Before starting Telazine, inform your physician about any pre-existing medical conditions, including:
Telazine may interact with other medications, including central nervous system depressants (e.g., alcohol, sedatives, antihistamines), anticholinergic drugs, and certain antihypertensive agents.Inform your physician about all medications you are currently taking.
Due to the potential for drowsiness and blurred vision, caution should be exercised while driving or operating machinery. Avoid alcohol consumption while taking Telazine.
Elderly patients may be more susceptible to certain side effects, such as tardive dyskinesia and orthostatic hypotension.
Inform your physician if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
Regular monitoring for the development of tardive dyskinesia and neuroleptic malignant syndrome is important during treatment with Telazine.
