Temcal-D 

Presentation: Film-coated tablets containing Calcium Carbonate BP equivalent to Elemental Calcium 500 mg and Vitamin D3 BP 200 IU (as Cholecalciferol). Available in strips. Manufactured by Team Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Indications: Indicated for the treatment of osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, tetany, and parathyroid disorders. Also used to ensure adequate dietary intake of calcium in conditions such as pregnancy and lactation, osteogenesis and tooth formation (as an adjunct to definitive treatment), and therapy with anti-seizure medications. It is also used as a routine supplement and phosphate binder in chronic renal failure.  

Dosage and Administration: The usual adult dosage is 1 tablet twice daily or 2 tablets daily, preferably with or just after a meal to improve absorption, or as directed by a physician.

Side Effects: Generally well-tolerated. Possible side effects may include nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, dry mouth, increased thirst, and increased urination. Constipation may also occur.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with hypercalcaemia, hyperthyroidism, renal calculi (kidney stones), nephrolithiasis, and Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome. Caution should be taken in patients with pre-existing heart disease or kidney disease. May interact with antacids containing calcium, aluminum, or magnesium, other calcium or Vitamin D3 supplements, digoxin, tetracycline, doxycycline, minocycline, or oxytetracycline.

Storage: Keep in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
