Tenoloc 100

Presentation: Each tablet contains 100 mg of Atenolol. 

Indications: Tenoloc (Atenolol) is indicated for the treatment of:

• Hypertension (high blood pressure)
• Angina pectoris (chest pain due to reduced blood flow to the heart)
• Cardiac arrhythmias (irregular heartbeat)
• Myocardial infarction (heart attack) - in the acute phase and for long-term management
• Migraine prophylaxis

Dosage and Administration:

• Dosage must be individualized by the treating physician.
• Hypertension: The usual starting dose is 50 mg once daily. If necessary, the dose may be increased to 100 mg once daily. Some patients may require lower doses.
• Angina Pectoris: The usual starting dose is 50 mg once daily, which may be increased to 100 mg once daily or 50 mg twice daily.
• Cardiac Arrhythmias: Dosage varies depending on the type of arrhythmia and patient response.
• Myocardial Infarction: In the acute phase, it may be administered intravenously followed by oral maintenance therapy. For long-term management, the usual dose is 100 mg once daily.
• Migraine Prophylaxis: The usual starting dose is 50 mg once daily, which may be increased to 100 mg once daily.

Tenoloc 100 tablets should be swallowed whole with water and can be taken with or without food, usually once daily.  

Side Effects: Common side effects may include:

• Bradycardia (slow heart rate)
• Hypotension (low blood pressure)
• Cold extremities
• Fatigue
• Dizziness
• Lightheadedness

Less common side effects may include:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Constipation
• Depression
• Sleep disturbances
• Shortness of breath (in susceptible individuals)  

Precautions:

• Inform your doctor if you have a history of heart failure, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, peripheral arterial disease, diabetes, thyroid disorders, or kidney problems.
• Use with caution in elderly patients.
• Tenoloc may cause dizziness and fatigue, especially at the start of treatment or when the dose is increased. Caution should be exercised while driving or operating machinery. 
• Avoid abrupt discontinuation of the medication, as it may worsen heart conditions. The dosage should be tapered gradually under medical supervision.
• The safety of Tenoloc during pregnancy has not been fully established. It should only be used if the potential benefit outweighs the risk to the fetus. Consult your doctor before use.
• Atenolol passes into breast milk. Breastfeeding is generally not recommended while taking Tenoloc. 

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
