Tenoren 50

Presentation: Each tablet contains Atenolol BP 50 mg.

Indications: Tenoren is indicated for the management of hypertension (high blood pressure). It may be used alone or with other antihypertensive agents, particularly thiazide-type diuretics. It is also used for the long-term management of angina pectoris (heart-related chest pain), in the management of hemodynamically stable patients with definite or suspected acute myocardial infarction to reduce cardiovascular mortality,and for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.

Dosage and Administration: The initial dose for hypertension is usually 50 mg once daily, which may be increased to 100 mg daily if needed. For angina pectoris, the initial dose is 50 mg once daily, increasing to 100-200 mg once daily if required. For cardiac arrhythmia, the initial dose is 25-50 mg once daily, which may be increased to 100 mg daily. In the management of acute myocardial infarction, a specific intravenous and oral regimen is followed, starting soon after the patient's arrival in the hospital. Dosage in elderly patients and those with renal impairment may be lower. Administer orally once or twice daily as directed by the physician.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include bradycardia (slow heart rate), cold extremities, dizziness, fatigue, and hypotension (low blood pressure). Less common side effects can include gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, and reversible mental depression.

Precautions: Inform your physician if you have a history of heart failure, peripheral arterial circulatory disorders, diabetes mellitus (as it can mask symptoms of low blood sugar), thyroid problems, or kidney or liver disease. Tenoren should be used with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It may interact with other medications, including calcium channel blockers, digitalis glycosides, clonidine, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Do not stop taking this medication suddenly, as it can cause a sudden rise in blood pressure and increase the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Storage: Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
