Thyronor 75     

Presentation:Thyronor 75 tablets contain 75 mcg of levothyroxine sodium.They are typically available in blister packs.The color and shape of the tablets may vary depending on the manufacturer (Nuvista Pharma Ltd. and Abbott India Ltd. are listed as manufacturers).

Indications:Thyronor 75 is used as a replacement therapyin conditions of reduced or absent thyroid function, also known as hypothyroidism.This can occur due to various reasons, including:

• Primary hypothyroidism: The thyroid gland itself doesn't produce enough thyroid hormone.
• Secondary or tertiary hypothyroidism:Problems with the pituitary or hypothalamus glands affect thyroid hormone production.  
• Congenital hypothyroidism: Hypothyroidism present from birth.
• Following thyroid surgery (thyroidectomy) or radioactive iodine treatment.
• To suppress Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) levelsin the presence of goiters, thyroid nodules, and after treatment for thyroid cancer.  
• To counteract the goitrogenic effects of certain drugslike lithium.  
• As a diagnostic aidin thyroid suppression tests.  

Levothyroxine is a synthetic form of thyroxine (T4), a natural hormone produced by the thyroid gland.It works by replacing or supplementing the body's own thyroid hormone to regulate energy and metabolism.  

Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Thyronor 75 is highly individualized and depends on the patient's specific needs, the severity of their hypothyroidism, and their response to treatment.

• It is usually taken once daily on an empty stomach, preferably 30 minutes to one hour before the first meal of the day, with a full glass of water.
• Tablets should be swallowed whole and not crushed or chewed.
• Dosage is typically started at a low level and gradually increased by your doctor until the correct maintenance dose is reached, based on clinical response and regular monitoring of thyroid hormone levels (especially TSH).
• It may take several weeks to months to achieve the full therapeutic effect.
• For most individuals, Thyronor 75 may be a lifelong medication.

Side Effects: Side effects of Thyronor 75 are usually associated with taking a dose that is too high, leading to symptoms of hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid). These can include:

• Palpitations (irregular heartbeat) or rapid heart rate
• Anxiety, nervousness, irritability, restlessness
• Tremors (shaking)
• Weight loss, increased appetite
• Diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal cramps
• Heat intolerance, excessive sweating
• Insomnia (difficulty sleeping)
• Headache
• Changes in menstrual cycle
• Hair loss (usually temporary in children)

Most side effects disappear once the correct dosage is established. It is crucial to inform your doctor immediately if you experience any of these symptoms.

Precautions:

• Inform your doctor about any pre-existing heart conditions, high blood pressure, adrenal gland disorders, or diabetes, as dosage adjustments of Thyronor 75 or other medications may be needed.
• Certain medications and supplements can interfere with the absorption of levothyroxine. It is generally recommended to leave a gap of at least 4 hours between taking Thyronor 75 and any antacids, calcium or iron supplements, and multivitamins.
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as your levothyroxine dosage may need to be adjusted. Levothyroxine is generally considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding when taken at the correct dose.
• Avoid changing brands of levothyroxine without consulting your doctor, as different formulations may have slightly different effects.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
