Tigover 5 Tablet contains Flunarizine 5mg. It is manufactured by Renata PLC in Bangladesh.

Indications: Tigover is indicated for:

• Prophylaxis of classic (with aura) or common (without aura) migraine.
• Symptomatic treatment of vestibular vertigo (due to a diagnosed functional disorder of the vestibular system).
• Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD).
• Motion sickness.
• Refractory epilepsy resistant to conventional antiepileptic therapy (as add-on therapy). 

Pharmacology: Flunarizine is a selective calcium channel antagonist. It prevents cellular calcium overload by reducing excessive transmembrane calcium influxes. It also has some antihistaminic and sedative properties.

Dosage and Administration:

• Migraine Prophylaxis:
  • Starting dose for patients under 65 years: 10 mg at night.
  • Starting dose for patients over 65 years: 5 mg daily at night.
  • Maintenance treatment: 5 days of treatment at the same daily dose with two successive medicine-free days every week.
• Vertigo & Motion Sickness: 10-20 mg daily for adults and 5 mg daily for children (> 40 kg).

Side Effects: Common side effects may include:

• Drowsiness and/or fatigue.
• Weight gain and/or increased appetite.

Less common side effects may include:

• Depression.
• Extrapyramidal symptoms (such as bradykinesia, rigidity, akathisia, tremor), especially in elderly patients.
• Heartburn.
• Nausea.
• Insomnia.
• Anxiety.
• Dry mouth.
• Muscle ache.
• Skin rash.

Contraindications: Tigover is contraindicated in patients with:

• Hypersensitivity to flunarizine.
• A history of depressive illness.
• Pre-existing symptoms of Parkinson's disease or other extrapyramidal disorders.

Precautions & Warnings:

• Tigover may lead to drowsiness, which can be aggravated by alcohol or other CNS depressants.
• It is not suitable for treating an acute migraine attack.
• This treatment may give rise to extrapyramidal and depressive symptoms and reveal Parkinsonism, especially in predisposed patients such as the elderly.  

Drug Interactions:

• Galactorrhoea has been reported in women on oral contraceptives within the first two months of Tigover treatment.
• Hepatic enzyme inducers like Carbamazepine and Phenytoin may increase the metabolism of flunarizine.

Storage Conditions: Keep below 30°C temperature, away from light & moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
