Ultracal C 

Presentation: Effervescent tablets, usually available in tubes containing 9 tablets. Manufactured by Popular Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Ingredients: Each effervescent tablet contains Calcium Lactate Gluconate 1000 mg, Calcium Carbonate 327 mg (equivalent to elemental Calcium), and Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) 500 mg.

Indications: Indicated in conditions with increased demand for Calcium and Vitamin C, such as pregnancy, lactation, periods of rapid growth (childhood, adolescence), and old age. Also used during infectious diseases and convalescence, treatment of calcium and vitamin-C deficiency, osteoporosis, premenstrual syndrome, postmenopausal problems, andas an adjuvant in colds and influenza.  

Dosage & Administration:  

• Adults and children over 7 years: 1 effervescent tablet daily. 
• Children 3 to 7 years:½ effervescent tablet daily. 
• Infants: As prescribed by the physician. Dissolve one tablet in a glass (200 ml) of waterand drink immediately.

Side Effects:In rare cases, mild gastrointestinal disturbances (bloating, diarrhea) can occur. In predisposed patients, prolonged treatment with highdoses may promote the formation of calculi in the urinary tract.  

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with hypercalcemia, severe hypercalciuria, severe renal failure, hyperoxaluria, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, or iron overload. Monitoring of calcium excretion in the urine is required for patients with mild hypercalciuria, mild to moderate impairment of renal function, or a history of urinary stones. High doses of vitamin D and its derivatives should be avoided unless specifically indicated. Use with caution in patients with severely impaired renal function, especially those receiving aluminum-containing preparations, due to the citric acid content which may increase aluminum absorption. The sugar content should be considered by diabetic patients.

Storage: Store at below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children. Keep the tube tightly closed after each use.
