Valestra 1 

Presentation: Valestra 1 Tablet, available in Bangladesh, contains Estradiol Valerate 1 mg.

Indications: Valestra is indicated for Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for estrogen deficiency symptoms in postmenopausal women, such as:

• Vasomotor symptoms (e.g., hot flushes).
• Vulvar and vaginal atrophy (e.g., vaginal dryness, itching). It is also indicated for the prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at high risk of fractures.

Dosage and Administration: The usual starting dose is one tablet (1 mg) taken orally once daily. The dosage may be adjusted by the physician based on the individual patient's clinical response.

• For the initiation and continuation of treatment of postmenopausal symptoms, the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration should be used. 
• Treatment is usually continuous, meaning the next pack is started immediately without a break.
• The tablet should be swallowed whole with water, preferably at the same time each day.
• If a dose is missed by less than 12 hours, it should be taken as soon as remembered. If it is more than 12 hours late, the missed dose should be skipped, and the next tablet taken at the usual time.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include headache, nausea, breast tenderness, abdominal cramps, bloating, and vaginal spotting or bleeding. Less common side effects can include changes in weight, dizziness, anxiety, and changes in libido.

Precautions: Valestra is contraindicated in women with known or suspected breast cancer, known or suspected estrogen-dependent malignant tumors (e.g., endometrial cancer), undiagnosed genital bleeding, untreatedendometrial hyperplasia, previous or current venous thromboembolism (deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism), known thrombophilic disorders,active or recent arterial thromboembolic disease (e.g., angina, myocardial infarction), acute liver disease or a history of liver disease as long as liver function tests havenot returned to normal, porphyria, and known hypersensitivity to estradiol valerate or any of the excipients.

Caution should be exercised in women with conditions such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, asthma, epilepsy, migraine, systemic lupus erythematosus, and a family history of thromboembolic disease. The use of estrogen-only therapy may increase the risk of endometrial cancer in women with a uterus.

Valestra is not indicated during pregnancy and should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy occurs. It is also generally not recommended during breastfeeding.

Storage: Store Valestra 1 tablets in a cool (below 30°C) and dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
