💊 Vcand Powder for Suspension (Voriconazole)

Vcand is a triazole antifungal medicine used for patients aged 12 and older to treat serious fungal infections.

📋 Indications

• Invasive aspergillosis.

• Candidemia and disseminated candidiasis in the skin, abdomen, kidney, and wounds.

• Esophageal candidiasis.

• Serious infections caused by Scedosporium or Fusarium species.

🥄 Dosage and Administration

• Timing: Take at least one hour before or one hour after a meal.

• Patients $\ge$ 40 kg: Loading dose is 400 mg (10 ml) every 12 hours for the first 24 hours. Maintenance dose is 200 mg (5 ml) twice daily.

• Patients < 40 kg: Loading dose is 200 mg (5 ml) every 12 hours for the first 24 hours. Maintenance dose is 100 mg (2.5 ml) twice daily.

🧪 Reconstitution Instructions

1. Shake the bottle well to loosen the powder.

2. Add 25 ml of boiled and cooled water.

3. Shake the closed bottle vigorously until the powder is completely mixed.

4. Store reconstituted suspension between 15°C and 30°C.

5. Discard any remaining suspension 14 days after mixing.

⚠️ Safety and Precautions

• Common Side Effects: Abdominal pain, anemia, blurred vision, headache, and nausea.

• Contraindications: Do not take with Rifampin, Carbamazepine, Sirolimus, or Efavirenz.

• Warning: Long-term exposure (over 180 days) requires risk assessment as skin cancer (SCC) has been reported with long-term treatment.

• Storage: Store dry powder between 2°C and 8°C.
