Vertina-D (Doxylamine Succinate and Pyridoxine Hydrochloride) is indicated for the treatment of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy in women who do not respond to conservative management. Take strictly as directed by a registered physician.
Doxylamine Succinate is an antihistamine that blocks H1 receptors and acts on the brain's vestibular system to reduce stimulation of the vomiting center. Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6 analog) provides additional antiemetic properties to help control nausea and vomiting.
Day 1: Take 1 tablet orally at bedtime. Day 2 Onward: If symptoms are controlled, continue taking 1 tablet daily at bedtime. If symptoms persist on Day 2, increase the dose to 1 tablet in the morning and 1 tablet at bedtime. Maximum Dose: The maximum recommended dose is 2 tablets per day (1 in the morning and 1 at bedtime). Administration: Swallow whole on an empty stomach with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or split the tablet. Take daily on a scheduled basis, not as needed.
Contraindicated in women with known hypersensitivity to Doxylamine Succinate, other ethanolamine derivative antihistamines, or Pyridoxine Hydrochloride. Do not use concurrently with Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs), as they intensify and prolong adverse central nervous system (CNS) and anticholinergic effects. Concurrent use with alcohol and other CNS depressants (such as sedatives or tranquilizers) is not recommended.
Side Effects: Somnolence (drowsiness) and increased risk of accidents when combined with CNS depressants. Precautions: Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery. Use with caution in patients with asthma, increased intraocular pressure, narrow-angle glaucoma, stenosing peptic ulcer, pyloroduodenal obstruction, or urinary bladder-neck obstruction.
Pregnancy: Pregnancy Category A. Formulated specifically for pregnancy-related nausea and vomiting when conservative management fails. Lactation: Both active components are excreted into breast milk; exercise caution during breastfeeding.
Overdose Effects: Symptoms may include restlessness, dry mouth, dilated pupils, sleepiness, vertigo, confusion, and tachycardia. Severe overdose can cause seizures, rhabdomyolysis, and acute renal failure. Seek immediate medical treatment if overdose occurs. Storage Conditions: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
