Vertina Plus

Presentation: Each tablet contains Meclizine Hydrochloride USP 25 mg and Pyridoxine Hydrochloride BP 50 mg. 

Indications: Vertina Plus is indicated for the prophylaxis and symptomatic relief of nausea, vomiting, and dizziness associated with motion sickness, radiation sickness, and vertigo due to disorders of the vestibular system, such as Meniere's syndrome and labyrinthitis. It may also be used for the management of morning sickness during pregnancy.

Dosage and Administration: The usual adult dose is one tablet orally one to two times daily, or as directed by a physician. For motion sickness, the initial dose is one or two tablets taken one hour before travel, and may be repeated every 24 hours if needed. For vertigo and other vestibular disturbances, the usual dose is one tablet two times daily, or as prescribed by a physician. The dosage for specific conditions and patient response will be determined by the healthcare professional.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include drowsiness and dry mouth. Less frequent side effects can include blurred vision and urinary retention. High doses of pyridoxine (Vitamin B6), one of the components of Vertina Plus, taken for prolonged periods have been associated with peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage).

Precautions: Due to the anticholinergic effects of meclizine, Vertina Plus should be used with caution in patients with asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, prostatic hypertrophy, narrow-angle glaucoma, or urinary bladder obstruction. It may cause drowsiness; therefore, patients should exercise caution while driving or operating machinery. Concurrent use with alcohol or other central nervous system depressants should be avoided. Inform your physician if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding before using this medication.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
