Vibose 0.2

Presentation: Each tablet contains 0.2 mg of voglibose.

Indications: Vibose is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve postprandial (after-meal) blood glucose levels. It is used as an adjunct to diet and exercise and can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents.

Dosage and Administration: Vibose 0.2 tablets are for oral administration and should be taken just before or with the first bite of each main meal. The usual starting dose for adults is 0.2 mg three times a day before meals. The dosage may be adjusted gradually based on blood glucose response and tolerability, up to a maximum of 0.6 mg three times a day.

Side Effects: The most common side effects of Vibose are gastrointestinal in nature due to its mechanism of action in the intestine. These may include flatulence, diarrhea, abdominal distension, and abdominal pain. These side effects are often transient and may decrease with continued use or dose adjustment.

Precautions: Vibose is contraindicated in patients with inflammatory bowel disease, colonic ulceration, partial or potential intestinal obstruction, and severe renal impairment. It should be used with caution in patients with a history of abdominal surgery or digestive disorders. Vibose should not be used in patients with diabetic ketoacidosis. Hypoglycemia may occur when Vibose is used in combination with sulfonylureas or insulin, in which case the dosage of the other antidiabetic agent may need to be reduced.
