Vigamet 850   

Presentation:Film-coated tablets containing 50mg of vildagliptin and 850mg of metformin hydrochloride.Usually available in blister packs. Manufactured by Eskayef Pharmaceuticals Ltd.in Bangladesh.

Indications:Indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellituswhose diabetes is not adequately controlled on metformin or vildagliptin alone, or who are already treated with the combinationas separate tablets.  

Dosage and Administration: The dosage should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen. Usually taken twice daily, one tablet in the morning and one in the evening, with or just after food to reduce gastrointestinal symptoms associated with metformin. Patients switching from separate tablets of vildagliptin and metformin may be switched to Vigamet containing the same doses. Doses of vildagliptin higher than 100mg daily are not recommended.Follow your doctor's specific instructions.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include headache, tremor, dizziness, nausea, and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) when used with other antidiabetic agents. Gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain) may also occur.  

Precautions:Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to vildagliptin or metformin, renal disease or dysfunction, acute myocardial infarction, septicemia, congestive heart failure, and acute or chronic metabolic acidosis (including diabetic ketoacidosis).Temporary discontinuation is recommended before radiologic studies involving intravascular administration of iodinated contrast materials.Use with caution in patients with liver disease. Alcohol consumption should be avoided. Not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Storage: Store below 30°C, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
