Viglimet 850

Presentation: Each tablet contains 50 mg of vildagliptin and 850 mg of metformin hydrochloride.

Indications: Viglimet is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus whose diabetes is not adequately controlled on metformin hydrochloride or vildagliptin alone, or who are alreadytreated with the combination of vildagliptin and metformin hydrochloride as separatetablets.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Viglimet should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen. It is usually taken twice daily with meals to reduce the gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin.

• The usual starting dose is one tablet of Viglimet 50/500 mg or 50/850 mg twice daily, depending on the patient's prior treatment with metformin.
• Patients receiving vildagliptin and metformin from separate tablets may be switched to Viglimet containing the same doses of each component.  
• Doses higher than 100 mg of vildagliptin per day are not recommended.  
• It should be taken with or just after food to reduce gastrointestinal symptoms associated with metformin.  

Side Effects:Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, and tremor.Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) may occur when Viglimet is used in combination with other antidiabetic agents such as sulfonylureas or insulin.

Precautions:Viglimet is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²), acute metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis, and known hypersensitivity to vildagliptin, metformin, or any of the excipients.It is not recommended for use in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus. Assess renal function before initiation and monitor periodically. Avoid excessive alcohol intake. Viglimet should be temporarily discontinued in patients undergoing radiologic studies with intravascular administration of iodinated contrast materials or any surgical procedures necessitating restricted intakeof food and fluids.Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of pancreatitis.

Storage:Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture.Keep out of reach of children.
