Vildamet 850/50

Presentation: Each film-coated tablet of Vildamet 850/50 contains 50 mg of vildagliptin and 850 mg of metformin hydrochloride.

Indications:Vildamet is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus whose diabetes is not adequately controlled on metformin hydrochloride or vildagliptin alone, or who are alreadytreated with the combination of vildagliptin and metformin hydrochloride as separatetablets.  

Dosage and Administration: The dosage should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen. The usual starting dose is one tablet twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening, taken with or just after food to reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin. Patients receiving vildagliptin and metformin from separate tablets may be switched to Vildamet containing the same doses of each component. Doses higher than 100 mg of vildagliptin per day are not recommended.

Side Effects:Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, loss of appetite, headache, and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) when used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas.  

Precautions: Vildamet is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²), acute or chronic metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis, and known hypersensitivity to vildagliptin or metformin. It should be used with caution in patients with moderate renal impairment, liver disease, and a history of pancreatitis. Excessive alcohol intake should be avoided due to the increased risk of lactic acidosis associated with metformin.  

Storage:Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture.Keep out of reach of children.
