Vildapin 50

Presentation: Each tablet contains vildagliptin 50 mg. 

Indications: Vildapin 50 is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabeticagents, including metformin, sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, or insulin.

Dosage and Administration: The recommended dose is 50 mg once or twice daily. When used in combination with a sulfonylurea, the recommended dose is 50 mg once daily in the morning. When used in combination with metformin or a thiazolidinedione, the recommended dose is 50 mg twice daily (morning and evening). The maximum daily dose is 100 mg. Vildapin 50 can be taken with or without food. Dosage adjustments may be necessary in patients with renal impairment.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include nasopharyngitis, headache, dizziness, and nausea. Hypoglycemia may occur when vildagliptin is used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas. Peripheral edema has also been reported.

Precautions: Vildapin 50 should not be used in patients with moderate or severe renal impairment or in patients with hepatic impairment. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of heart failure. Discontinue vildagliptin if liver enzyme elevations occur.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
